Best of the Blogs #12

Don't miss out on these blogs!

Welcome to the twelfth instalment of our Best of the Blogs feature, where we play catch-up on the best of the previous fortnight's blogs. Some of you may have noticed there was no blog feature last week - we're now fortnightly. Check out the top three below and keep the blogs coming!

Blog #3: Sequel Hype, Plain and Simple by Slide

Blogging newcomer Slide has the third today with his blog titled Sequel Hype, Plain and Simple that covers the Xbox Experience, the upcoming Fable and Gears of War sequels and the hype that surrounds them. Slide goes on to discuss the pros and cons, if you will, of each of these upcoming releases and how they will hopefully stack up against the expectations placed on them by his time with the previous titles (or platforms, in the Xbox Experiences case).

Check out some of the comments below.

”I have yet to find a case where hype has benifitted a game's sales/reception in the long term, and the only case that i can think of wherethe hype dies before the game is released is Duke Nukem Forever because its taking......well, forever.” from ChatterBoxZombie.

”Gears of War 2 will live up to the hype because it's Gear of War.
Fable 2...well from what I've been reading Peter Molyneux for the first time, actually came through with his crazy visions. Apparently everything he wanted and hyped up is actually in the game compared to the first one which was a mess.”
from tiamat1990.

Blog #2: A lesson on Gamer Nutrition by stupidlikeafox

Second spot today is stupidlikeafox with a blog that goes in-depth on the diets of gamers. Starting with the staples of a gamer's diet (pies, energy drinks and coke) and expanding on their, ahem, nutritional value stupidlikeafox has provided a complete guide on whipping your body out-of shape.

Add another one to the list of stupidlikeafox blogs to read and check out some of the comments below.

”How could you not mention the copious amounts of Twisties, those little buggers are awesome and I swear that they're designed not to be fulling at all.” from Insanctity

”This is the sort of nutritional advice I wished that I had been given at school.” from paddy01

Blog #1: Gizmondo Console Review – type Srassy by Srassy

Top spot today is Srassy with a review of the Gizmondo, a handheld console launched in late 2005. My having to explain what the Gizmondo is should give you a pretty good indication as to how successful it was. Srassy, however, has stepped up to the plate with a comprehensive review of this ill-fated handheld and six of the eight (?) available games which include such classics as Sticky Balls, Gizmondo Motocross 2005 and Super Drop Mania.

This blog, while extremely informative, is a bit lengthy and may not appeal to everyone, but I’ve put it at the top spot because of the effort Srassy put into writing this and because if you haven’t heard much about the Gizmondo before, this serves as a pretty good re-cap of why it didn’t take off.

Check out some of the comments below.

”Interesting read, look forward to your next blog. Gizmondo? I think I will give it a miss now, Angelfish doesn't look bad though.” from Wozza

”I seem to remember chucking it in an article with psp and ds as a joke. tongue.gif” from Munkah

That brings us to a close on the twelfth instalment of the Best of the Blogs. If you have any suggestions on this week’s entries or want to see something different or new with the format feel free to let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for the next blog re-cap.
