In a post-GTA IV world, Hei$t certainly has its work cut out for it. That’s not saying that developer inXile, the company that brought you A Bard’s Tale, isn’t doing everything in its power to bring players an original and fresh take on the crime subgenre.

Players will take control of Johnny Sutton, a bank robber who has assembled a team of top rate criminals to help him execute a series of high profile robberies. The game offers a full city to explore, and will allow players to plan every detail of an upcoming robbery.

Execute the guard or let him live: it’s completely up to the player. Players can also think outside the box, such as setting up pre-emptive roadblocks for a later getaway. You’ll even be able to encourage good or bad behaviour in your cohorts – although they will be able to think for themselves.

The game itself is set in the 1960s and it appears to be capturing the feel of the game well: plenty of super-sized glasses and afros to be found here. Little is known about the game, and with GTA IV taking the wind out of everyone’s sales, it remains to be seen whether Hei$t can offer enough to create a splash in the gaming world.

However, the focus on robberies might provide a level of focus that is refreshing, and A Bard’s Tale was an excellent, original title, so hopes for Hei$t are high. Keep it locked to NZGamer for more details about Hei$t as we get them.
