Monolith’s Condemned: Criminal Origins was one of the 360’s darkest launch titles. It even garnered mainstream media attention in the aftermath of recent school shootings, thanks to a misinformed article where a high profile cop inadvertently admits to his kid playing games rated R18. It’s been almost two years since players were ‘semi-shocked’ and parents were outraged by the original. Early next year they can be shocked all over again as Condemned 2: Bloodshot is set to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with a bloodied sledge hammer.

In Condemned 2: Bloodshot players will play as former Serial Crimes Unit investigator, Ethan Thomas. Due to the events of Ethan’s past he has ended up a psychologist’s dream patient, likely requiring years of therapy to deal with everything he’s been through. However, therapy wouldn’t make a fun game. Instead, he wanders around mindlessly; taking out anything that moves with all manner of blunt instruments and guns. Players will be able chain together melee attacks for blood-curdling combos. There won’t be a shortage on weapons either, as players will be able to pick up steel pipes and a variety of guns along the way.

The single player campaign will be about investigating crimes and piecing together Ethan’s past. Sega are promising plenty of twists to keep players guessing. On top of the new story Bloodshot is also introducing a new online multiplayer mode to the series, allowing players to take the carnage online and beat each other senseless over PlayStation Net or Xbox Live.
