We're putting the question to the NZGamer.com staff.
In what will be a regular feature leading up to the big day itself, we're posing the $500 question to the NZGamer.com staff. Up next, Tristan Clark
What would I do if I had $500 for Christmas to spend exclusively on gaming stuff? Well, let’s see...
I have many options available, each pretty tempting. I could go retro – after all, there are a ton of old Sega games I want to get my hands on again. I could get a whole heap of the latest titles I keep meaning to play, like Brutal Legend or Dragon Age. Or I could work through my stupidly long list of games I know I should play – you know, the “important” gaming titles like Ico, Okami, and all the rest.
But I’ve just recently moved house into a flat that now has, for some blessedly geeky reason, two big TVs and a couple of Xbox 360s. So I thought, why not make use of what I have lying around?
Here’s what I’m gonna do:
Two copies of FIFA 10
We’ve got quite a few mates hooked on FIFA now. We’ve been having some fun four-player matches, but why not take it one step further and get some local 4v4 going? We’ve enough friends, enough consoles, and enough TVs – getting two copies of FIFA (about $200) will seal the deal. Except, we’re also going to need…
More controllers
Okay, so there are four controllers in our house already. One of my FIFA-crazy friends has two already, so we’ll need two more and we’re all set. Now, Xbox controllers are typically about $80, right? So that’s $160. Sorted!
But there’s still money left over – and still something missing…
Lack of sobriety
What’s missing? Beer! How much money is left? $140? That’s enough for heaps of beer! Or better still – some beer and expensive whiskey! Who can say no to expensive whiskey?
So that’s my $500. As a backup plan, I’d be tempted to buy four copies of Left 4 Dead 2 so a bunch of us can play co-op. Or better still, how about eight copies? That way we can play 4v4 again!
Wow, I sure am in a very co-op kinda mood, ain’t I?

Oh, and 4v4 L4D2 sounds MADNESS.
As long as everyone is in the same room hooked up and not over net!?
And what about food?
