A whole selection up for grabs.
Thanks to Xbox NZ we've got a whole pile of great Xbox 360 games to be won! Up for grabs are two copies Alan Wake, two copies of Halo: ODST, two copies of Forza Motorsport 3, two copies of Fable 2 and two copies of Gears of War 2!
Alan Wake
Our titular bestselling author can’t seem to catch a break - he and his perfectly pretty wife were intending to vacation in Idyllic American Smalltown™ Bright Falls, but what they received instead was a vacation in hell. Wake’s words begin to jump off the page, Alice goes missing, and Wake must ward off waves of literal Darkness in order to find her. The hook is the manipulation of light and dark: light = good, dark = bad. There is irony behind the name Bright Falls.
Halo: ODST
Truthfully, ODST isn’t a “completely new gameplay experience” that Bungie initially promised. It feels and acts like Halo 3, but contains enough improvements to make the experience refreshing. Most importantly though, it appears that Bungie are learning how to write and present an excellent single-player story to match the multiplayer prowess of Halo. Although the campaign mode only takes around 6 to 7 hours to get through, every moment is memorable and action packed. The future looks good – even without Master Chef… I mean Chief in the line-up.
Forza Motorsport 3:
Forza 3 may have 'something for everyone', but for me the heart of the game is how damn satisfying a good lap feels in the hot lap mode. And I guess at the end of the day, the most important thing in a DRIVING game is how much fun you have kissing the apex. Gran Turismo 5 (you knew it would be mentioned somewhere) has a lot of work to do to eclipse this as the premium car game.
Fable 2:
Fable II isn’t perfect, but taken as a whole, as an experience rather than a series of discrete mechanics, this is a game that – if you let it – will draw you into its world…and then let you run loose in it. It feels refreshing enough to breathe new life into this crowded genre, and if you’re an RPG fan – even a casual one – then this should definitely be on your ‘must play’ list.
Gears of War 2:
One of the year’s biggest action games, Gears of War 2, has finally landed, and we’ve taken on the Locust with Delta squad to see how it fares. Straight off the bat, you’ll recognise this as a Gears of War title. The game looks, feels, and plays the same as the original Gears – and that’s not a bad thing. The main characters Fenix, Cole, Dom and Baird are all back to reprise their roles, alongside a couple of newcomers in Ben Carmine (Anthony Carmine’s brother), and Tai.
How to Win:
So how do you get your hands on one of these games?
