Godzilla is returning to a Nintendo console for the first time since Godzilla - Destroy All Monsters Melee. Although the former had better sales on the GameCube than on Xbox, the GameCube missed out on the sequel because many publishers were blaming the console for poor software sales at the time. This time around however, Nintendo are back on top with the Wii and have gotten Godzilla back on their machine, albeit in a multiplatform title. Now that Nintendo fans are getting ready to kick monster tail in Godzilla: Unleashed, the question remains: will it be any good on Wii?

As with previous installments, all fights will take place in eight fully destructible cities. Players will be able to rip buildings from their foundations or throw their opponent into them, levelling whole cities with their monster battles. This is all in an effort to save the world from the destruction these beasts would surely inflict.

Once again you will take control of a number of different Godzilla monsters and battle it out with twenty-three other playable characters from Japan’s most famous monster movie franchise. Godzilla: Unleashed is being designed with the standard Wii remote and nunchuk combination in mind; attacks will be performed by waving the Wii remote around, but how intuitive this will be remains to be seen.

Will this be a monster hit or a colossal flop for the Wii? It’s anyone’s guess right now. However, it will be interesting to see how well the controls work and visually this is still looking great, even if it looks ‘last gen’.
