Yooka-Laylee Coming to Switch Soon

Runtime: 0:20    Author: UCueKkTDzpAUAof825AsGZtQ    Category: Trailers

Yooka-Laylee – the throwback platformer from ex Banjo-Kazooie creators – is coming to Nintendo Switch on December 14.

As IGN reports, the game will only be available digitally. Physical versions have yet to be confirmed. If you Kickstarted the game and chose to receive the now-cancelled Wii U version, and then opted for a Switch copy, you’ll receive a code on launch day.

The game will run at 900p in docked mode, and 600p in handheld. Developer Playtonic also promises a more consistent framerate, thanks to optimisations. Players will also get an internal achievement system, and other features (like better camera control) introduced with later patches.

We’ll keep you updated if the New Zealand release date differs.

I really enjoyed Yooka Laylee, but it wasn't the most bug free game.

So hopefully it has been optimized well because ports to Switch usually have their quirks, which are fine because it's the sacrifice you make for portability, but if it compounds bugs, this could be messy.

Yeah, I found the game equally enjoyable and frustrating on the PS4. Hopefully the delay to release has allowed a decent optimisation of he game on the switch.

I've waited to play it on Switch for so long, but I'm disappointed in no physical version right now (love me physical collection) so I'll probably just keep waiting and see. At this point after waiting so long the hype has sorta gone a bit anyway.

Had this have released on switch along with the other platforms I'd probably have grabbed this, but the current catalog of games is just unreal and I doubt I'd ever get around to playing it nowadays.
