Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Release Date, Price Announced

Runtime: 1:10    Author: OfficialNinjaTheory    Category: Trailers

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been given a release date and pricing. The psychological action game will release on PlayStation 4 and PC on August 8. It will only be available digitally.

You can pre-order the game on PSN for $48.95 NZD, or on Steam for $35.99 NZD. You can also pick the game up from GOG at a similar value.

If the price-point seems strange, that’s because developer Ninja Theory consider it to be smaller in scope, and more experimental than most retail games. The game is also being self-published by the developer.

"Our aim is to bring back the mid-size game, so Hellblade is half the size of a AAA game, but sold at half the price," said Ninja Theory’s Dominic Matthews.

"By going digital only we can assure that we keep costs low for you, plus more of your money comes directly back to us to reinvest in new games," Matthews explained. "If we can make Hellblade a success, others will follow to make games a richer, more varied place for both gamers and developers."

According to Eurogamer, Hellblade was made by a small team of about 20 people.

Totally thought this was a PS exclusive... no idea what "half the size of a AAA game" means - that it's only 3-5hrs long? or maybe it's mechanics are super basic? Maybe it's a pretty walking simulator/interactive experience with a few combat moments? means nothing to me.

LOOKS good, but who knows how it's going to play. Hopefully we see more before release.

Really looking forward for the game, a great strategy too, less is always more.

Good on them for the honest approach. Wonder who got the idea for female, face painted, dreadlock, rag wearing character first? Looks like Horizon.

Hellblade has been in development for far far longer than Horizon would have been. It was probably around the time if Killzone 2 if not 3 when they announced it initially... with the "painted face rag wearing woman" nonetheless

Been interested for this game awhile, but surprised about the price point and that it might be experimental and short.
