Code Vein Announcement Trailer

Runtime: 2:39    Author: NamcoBandaiGamesEU    Category: Trailers

Following on from its reveal in late April, publisher Bandai Namco have released  video for upcoming action-RPG Code Vein. In it, you’ll get a sense of the world and get a glimpse of the action-focused combat on offer.

From the press release:

In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity.

The game also features companions you can choose to travel with, to complement your play-style.

Code Vein is being developed by the team that created God Eater. According to the press release, it’s set to release in 2018 on “major home consoles.”

Reminds me a bit of Bloodborne.

Mixed feelings on the art style... when it finally revealed the character's faces and it was an anime face over the gritty realistic style... it was a bit jarring... but it looks interesting... :D

Wow this is like an anime version of Soul Sacrifice (good game) + a drizzle of Bornes!

Look forward to reviews on this to see if it is built like a souls game as it keeps getting advertised as from the "Dark Souls Publisher" , so media are portraying it as such. Or whether it plays more like a Darksiders type action game. Sort of looked like a hybrid to me.

Also, it was teased by Namco with the tag line "prepare to dine"

Dark Souls, prepare to die.

Yeah if I was FromSoftware Id be pretty pissed at Bandai Namco at using what they built up to sort of in a sly way hype and market a different game from a different dev.
