NBA Playgrounds Delivers Throwback Arcade Action

Runtime: 0:49    Author: IGNentertainment    Category: Trailers

NBA Playgrounds has been announced, bringing classic arcade basketball action into the modern era. The game is slated to arrive for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch in May. New Zealand dates and pricing have yet to be confirmed.

In a trailer from IGN (via Polygon), the game draws on the classic NBA Jam, featuring 2v2 matches. The roster will include exaggerated versions of current stars, with big heads and even bigger dunks.

NBA Playgrounds will feature local and online multiplayer options.

Would of preferred a new NBA Street, would be awesome if it had the frostbite engine and had the same rough housing of the older ones and seeing players getting bumped and bruised when dunking on each other, I will get this for my Switch, since the switch launch titles are quite scarce, it will be something to tear me away from Zelda, and will make for a fun co-op during the lunch breaks at work.

Big heads, alley oops and slam dunks, what could go wrong?

I second that. Loved NBA Street back in the days. Having that updated using a modern graphics engine would rock.

Slightly off topic, but NFL Street was awesome too.

Definitely going to keep my eye on it, need something before 2k18 drops and being a more fun ala NBA Streets tone gives it a unique feel from what Ive played in the last decade.
Will wait for reviews...

Yes! Have been holding out hope for a reincarnation of NBA JAM.... The original... not the last one from a few years ago (that wasn't so good). NBA Playgrounds could be that game to scratch my itch. Very keen!

Nah, not really, I'm sure we all agree that the street series, including the fifa version too were fun!
