NetherRealm and Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for their upcoming fighter Injustice 2. This one reveals Dr. Fate, a character straight from the DC Comics Golden Age.
"We like to have characters that have a lot of variety--especially in their moves and attacks--so we can make sure we don't just have one type of character,” said designer John Edwards to GameSpot. “We don't want every character to be just like Batman or Superman.”
“So we try to find characters that have unique powers, unique abilities, things that the rest of cast don't necessarily have,” he continued. “And we looked back and we were like, 'Hey, we don't really have a predominant spellcasting, magic-based character.' Doctor Fate, being essentially the most powerful magic user in the DC universe, seemed like just a real good fit."
According to Edwards, fate is primarily a ranged fighter, and is strong at controlling space and keeping his opponent away form him. He can also place ankhs around the stage, which can heal or harm.
Injustice 2 is set to release on May 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
