SteamWorld Dig 2 has been announced by developer Image & Form, and is slated to debut on Nintendo’s upcoming system the Switch in winter later this year. It will revisit the “mysterious and unresolved setting” from the first game.
From the press release:
Grab your pickaxe and dig into this sequel to the award-winning SteamWorld Dig, a platform mining adventure forged in Metroidvania flames. In search of her lost friend, a lone steambot and her unlikely companion must dig deep, gain riches and explore an underworld riddled with danger. But time is running short…
The game will apparently make use of the Switch’s unique technologies, like the Joy-Con and HD Rumble.
Other platforms have yet to be announced – although the trailer’s description does hint at other systems. The first game released across multiple devices, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Vita, 3DS, and Wii U.
