Middle-earth: Shadow of War Is Real, Gets Trailer

Runtime: 2:31    Author: PlayStation    Category: Trailers

It’s official – Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is getting a sequel. Slated for release on August 22, Shadow of War has been given a cinematic trailer. Gameplay footage will be shown next week.

Here’s an official description, via Kotaku:

In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, players wield a new Ring of Power and confront the deadliest of enemies, including Sauron and his Nazgul, in a monumental battle for Middle-earth. The open-world RPG is brought to life through the expansion of the award-winning Nemesis System. The robust personalization from the first game is now applied to the entire world where the environments and characters are all shaped by player actions and decisions, creating a personal world unique to every gameplay experience.

The game’s reveal was inadvertently leaked over the weekend, when it popped up on a retail website. We'll update you if the New Zealand release date differs.

[Update: 28/02/2017, 2:48PM]

Microsoft has confirmed that Middle-earth: Shadow of War will also feature Scorpio support, when the system launches this holiday season. It's also joining the Play Anywhere initiative; buying the game on either Xbox One or Windows 10 Store will grant access to the other, with saves carrying between the two versions.

Has this been confirmed early due to the retailer leak or was this all a cunning plan to generate some free press prior to today's actually reveal?

Well that's 2017s social events calendar gone. Can this year fit any more games in? It's only February! Looks epic.
