Developer Naughty Dog announced today that Uncharted 4 – their highly successful action game – will be getting a new multiplayer Survival mode. The mode has you and two other players fighting off ever-increasing waves of difficult enemies.
As GameSpot points out, the mode is similar to Uncharted 2 and 3’s Co-Op Arena mode.
“We’ve built upon and evolved the core gameplay experience with an entirely new level of depth, challenge, and variety,“ said game designer Vinit Agarwal in a PlayStation Blog post. “From new enemy types and powerful new bosses to a dedicated progression system and expansive upgradable arsenal, Survival is all about strategy, camaraderie, and skill.”
The mode will have 50 waves, and 10 different maps. Each 10 waves will culminate in a boss battle. Keeping things fresh however are objectives peppered throughout. Some task you with defending a particular area, while others have you collecting treasure or taking out marked enemies in a tight time-frame.
Survival will feature its own progression system, as well as unique cosmetic items.
The new mode will be free, and is slated to release in mid-December.
