Mass Effect: Andromeda Gets New Trailer, Story Details

Runtime: 1:43    Author: biowaremasseffect    Category: Trailers

Following on from its N7 Day teaser last week, developer Bioware and publisher EA have released a new trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda. In it, you’ll get a brief look at the places you’ll visit, companions you’ll meet, and a rather short reveal for a new villain.

Also revealed is a mission-briefing of sorts, detailing the Andromeda Initiative – an in-fiction space exploration program. The journey to seek out a new home for humanity past their own galaxy will be a one-way trip, fraught with danger, GameSpot reports.

"600 years from now you will awake from cryostasis on the outskirts of the Andromeda galaxy," says the narrator. "Most of you will be aboard Arc Hyperion while the rest will travel on the Nexus with me."

Multiple other species are also performing their own expansion into uncharted territory under the same initiative.

Mass Effect 2 and 3 were also made available today on Xbox One, via backwards compatibility. This means that the entire original trilogy can be played on Microsoft’s latest system.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to release in March, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Let's hope EA does't get their Filthy hands on it and ruin it again.

I can't quite put a finger on the reason for my discontent, but this trailer doesn't do it for me. I think it's because with each iteration the series moved away from what I fell in love with originally. The game was an RPG with action-based combat but evolved into a third-person cover-based shooter with light RPG mechanics. I mean the fact they introduced competitive multiplayer says it all, really.

This trailer was a little too Michael Bay for my liking. I was hoping for something more thoughtful and cerebral. This seemed to much like "Phwoar! Action! Explosions!"

Still, Battlefield 1's first trailer turned me right off and didn't ring true to the approach DICE would finally take, so here's hoping something similar is going on here.

Ea knows, good games sell more, it was a bad game per se just a bad ending, and a lot of people would have got it otherwise without it.

Its a shame the went for the Hollywood action style trailer, I know I'm not the target audience, as I'll buy it regardless. Would be nice to introduce the mainstream to the retro sci-fi elements e.g. https://youtu.be/Gg_406UV8n8 - Trailer 2 I guess.

From a Game Informer piece:

""Jade as a sequel is never dead," said BioWare creative director Mike Laidlaw, who worked as a lead writer on the original.

"There are a lot of people still at the studio who worked on that game and want to get back to it," said BioWare GM Aaryn Flynn. "I think one of the advantages to getting back to it after a long time is not only nostalgia is a very powerful feeling in people, but skipping a generation of hardware is actually really exciting because it feels like it's not an evolution. It's a revolution of what you can do, and I think that's the kind of thing that brings people. What if we were to revolutionize Jade Empire and brought it back in that regard? That's the kind of talk that still happens around the studio.""

I want to know why people hated the ending so much, I didn't mind it, I feel like this question is right up your alley

I think about going back and playing Jade Empire sometimes, but alas, my OG Xbox died many a year ago.
