Developer 343 Industries showed some gameplay for their upcoming Xbox One and PC RTS, Halo Wars 2. Studio head Dan Ayoub showed the game off, and also hinted at a new mode that would offer “a completely new way to play.”
"One of the modes, which I can only tease for the time being, is actually a completely new way to play a RTS," said Ayoub, via DualShockers. "It really takes standard RTS gameplay and turns it on its head. And that's a mode that can be played in a shorter time frame as well, like five, six, seven minutes."
The footage above doesn’t show this mode. Instead, it features the single-player campaign’s first mission. Set after the events of Halo 5: Guardians, a UNSC crew has awoken from cryosleep in unfamiliar territory.
Halo Wars 2 is set to release on February 21, 2017 for Xbox One and PC. A second beta is slated for the game, which will be held “closer to launch.” It’s unclear if the mode teased in the video will be the new one coming to the beta.
