As of the Microsoft E3 Briefing, We Happy Few now has a brand new gameplay demo showing off what people can expect from the game when it comes to Xbox Game Preview on July 26, 2016. Coming to Xbox One and PC, no word at this time if it will be arriving on the Playstation 4.
Set in a dystopian English city in 1964, We Happy Few is an action-adventure first person narrative-driven roguelike-survival game that sees the player trying to survive and escape a drugged-out, paranoid society version of an Orwellian nightmare. The footage shows one such attempt to escape, and what happens when the imaginary walls of reality come crashing down as the mandatory drugs begin to wear off.
Interwoven stories between three playable downers: people who've opted to not take their "happy pills", each character is haunted by the terrible acts they committed in the past, and each has something they urgently need to accomplish. Blend-in, scavenge items, craft gear, and work your way through the different social expectations expected of the citizens of Wellington Wells.
If I can take anything away from the trailer, I do hope the peppy music cuts in at equally inappropriate times.
We Happy Few is coming to Xbox Game Preview on July 26, 2016 for Xbox One. No release date has been given for PC at this time.
