Shown during their live E3 2016 Treehouse Stream this morning, along with releasing a new trailer for the title, Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the official name for the next title in the series, scheduled to come to the Wii U and NX sometime in 2017.

Step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure.

While showing the game off on the stream, Nintendo also announced that in Breath of the Wild, the environment will have an effect on Link, so proper gear is necessary to survive in the Great Plateau. Going along with this news was the reveal that Link can now jump in order to climb trees and walls, as well as the fact that they are introducing technology to the world of Zelda with the addition of the Sheikah Slate, a tool designed after the Wii U gamepad to help the player explore the world.

Nintendo also announced that for a limited time there will be free Zelda themed items available for players of Miitomo.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming to the Nintendo Wii U and NX sometime in 2017.

This looks great, really looking forward to playing this. I'm loving the new open world look as well, so far everything I'm seeing makes it look like it's worth the wait.

And the wait continues......I really hope this isn't a life simulator though. I don't want to have to hunt and cook etc over and over again to stay alive. I want cool temples, puzzles and combat. I get enough of life simulator outside of video games. Its why I prefer linear games compared to open world. Open world tends to end up being fetch quest after fetch quest etc.

Loving the art direction though, only played a few Zelda titles with Twilight Princess being my favourite so far.
