Destiny’s Latest Expansion Leaves Last-Gen Players Behind

Runtime: 1:46    Author: destinygame    Category: Trailers

Bungie revealed its latest expansion to Destiny – their space-faring loot-driven shooter. Titled Rise of Iron, the expansion will require the base game and all previous expansions to work. Further, it will only be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game – meaning last-gen Destiny players will be left behind.

"Rise of Iron is an exciting addition to the Destiny universe," Bungie CEO Pete Parsons said in a statement. "We are continually blown away and inspired by the growing Destiny community's energy and enthusiasm."

The expansion will introduce new weapons, areas, new and updated strikes, and one new raid. To get a better look, watch the trailer above.

Rise of Iron is set to release on September 20.

Sadly, I have lost interest in Destiny, with its reused content and weapons - but damn do they make the next installments look awesome. Going off prior expansions it will just be the same rehashed missions with a couple of new ones - that being said maybe with dropping last gen we may see more content? (wishful thinking)

Well that's me out. A real flaw in their model methinks :-/
I look at what Blood & Wine offers and then at Destiny's "expansions" and just nope. And the fact you can't pick & choose which expansions to buy but rather have to get them all means there's no chance of me getting back into this franchise.

Might be a flaw but its a generic MMO model thats been around awhile. Think World of Warcraft.
If you havent played previous expansions or DLC you probably wouldnt bother with this one either.
But I get your point, would be nice to pick and choose ie not bother with Ep 1 and 2, and just get Taken King and this...

But Destiny isn't an MMO?! Or is it?? Aww heck I forget :-) All I know is no-one can be WoW but I can't blame them for trying. They should just know when to give up and try something different. Maybe with Destiny 2.0??

This is funny (not for the older generation players) but with all the money they've spent on Destiny & it's add on content they could have probably upgraded to current gen.

It's not a mmo but I'm starting to believe that maybe they believe that the 10 yr plan for Destiny might actually work out lol.

Have just come back to Destiny after time away due to a thumb operation! And enjoying it all again! Looking forward to the new content.
