The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone Expansion Launches October 13

Runtime: 0:45    Author: BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe    Category: Trailers

The first of two paid expansion packs for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, called Hearts of Stone, will launch on October 13, CD Projekt Red announced today.

As well as a standard digital release, a limited, boxed edition of the expansion will be available from select retailers. This version includes a download code for the expansion itself, and two "masterfully crafted" decks of Gwent, the card game from The Witcher 3. The two decks are based on Monsters and Scoia’tael, and a manual for the game is also included. At the time of writing, JB Hi-Fi has it available for pre-order on PS4 for $39.98, while EB Games has it for PS4 and PC for $44.99.

As for Hearts of Stone itself, it "packs over 10 hours of new adventures and introduces new characters, powerful monsters, unique romance, and a brand new storyline shaped by gamer choices." There's also a new system called Runewords, letting players "significantly" alter in-game mechanics to experiment with new strategies.

Here's CD Projekt Red's synopsis for Hearts of Stone:

Step again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, this time hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality. The expansion lets you choose your own way through an adventure that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt came out in May this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and has since been expanded upon with 10 free DLCs and numerous patches. Another paid expansion, Blood and Wine, is due out next year.

Psyched for this. Still nowhere near finished the game as it is... Deathmarch may have been a poor first choice, however, longevity is high.

Started my NG+ on Death March. Hopefully will get through some of that before taking a detour onto this!
