New Destiny Teaser Trailer Includes Nolan North's Ghost

Runtime: 0:44    Author: Bungie    Category: Trailers

The latest trailer for Destiny: The Taken King gives fans a first glimpse of the Nolan North-voiced Ghost companion, after he replaced Peter Dinklage in the role.

The trailer itself teases an upcoming Twitch livestream focusing on one of the new strikes in The Taken King, The Dreadnought, and includes an extract from a cutscene with North's Ghost talking about the destination. "Why do you think they crashed their ship into the dreadnought?" the Ghost asks. "Those are extreme tactics for the Cabal."

The Twitch broadcast starts at 6am NSZT on Thursday, August 27, and is hosted by design lead James Tsai and community guest Mr. Fruit. It'll show off the new location and new bosses featured in the Strike, and probably more dialogue from the "Northbot".

The Ghost is a companion that accompanies players throughout their journeys in Destiny. In the original game, it was voiced by Peter Dinklage (of Game of Thrones fame), but Bungie recently announced that the role has been recast due to Dinklage's commitments, and Nolan North (Nathan Drake in Uncharted) is not just voicing The Taken King, but all of Dinklage's lines from the original game are also being re-recorded.

nawwww I was actually used to the dinklebot

This sounds like he is trying to BE the dinkster. Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. Oh well if I don't like it, we got skippable cutscenes bae!!

Yeah! I'm inclined to agree! I didn't mind Dinkle at all.... And yeah, I was kind of expecting a totally different take but just sounds like North has tried to copy the D-bot's style.... I dunno, maybe they wanted it to sound similar for continuity. I know they went with North as Dinky was busy playing GOT and what-not, so maybe the continuity thing is what they were going for? I know it's only a snippet so maybe my feelings will change once we hear/see/play some more.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it sounded weird. I never knew why everyone was so against Dinkle ghost

My guess is that the Bungie sound designers altered his voice so it isn't TOO different for players who aren't 100% up to date with the latest news, but still get a new (more accessible for recordings) actor they can use to try and add some new life in the character.

Should be interesting to hear the new inflections North will throw into the overwritten lines. Also hope (but don't expect) they add lines for the Ghost in the 2 current dlc.
