Mortal Kombat X is due in April, and Warner Bros. Interactive this morning announced a product lineup that includes four different special editions of the game.
The Mortal Kombat X Kollector's Edition is the most expensive option, at US$179.99. It comes with a hand-painted, 28cm Scorpion statue, an exclusive steel case and steel card, the first issue of the Mortal Kombat X: Blood Ties comic book, an in-game Gold Scorpion skin, and the Kombat Pack season pass, covering four add-on characters.
The Mortal Kombat X: Kollector's Edition by Coarse is slightly cheaper, with an MSRP of US$149.99. As well as the game itself, this option includes an exclusive Scorpion figurine designed by Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk from Coarse, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, the Gold Scorpion skin (based on Coarse's figure), and the Kombat Pack. The video above offers a brief overview of their design process.
The Mortal Kombat X Limited Edition (US$94.99) comes with an exclusive Scorpion skin inspired by the Cold War, the result of a collaborative effort between NetherRealm and a fan artist from MKKollective.com, as well as the Kombat Pack.
Finally, the download-only Mortal Kombat X Premium Edition (US$89.99) includes both the game and the Kombat Pack, and is available on all platforms.
In the US, the Kollector's Edition is exclusive to Amazon.com, and the Limited Edition to GameStop; we've contacted Warner Bros. to find out which special editions, if any, will be released in New Zealand. Amazon does offer shipping to New Zealand for both the Kollector's Edition and the Kollector's Edition by Coarse, which work out to roughly NZ$258.19 and $217.36 respectively, with standard shipping included.
Mortal Kombat X launches on April 16 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The physical special editions are only available for PS4 and Xbox One, however.
