The demonic sorcerer Quan Chi will be a playable character in Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm Studios announced today with a new trailer showing the villain in action.
Like all Mortal Kombat X characters, Quan Chi has three different sets of moves that can be selected when choosing your character. Sorcerer Quan Chi is a ranged fighter, with a variety of spells to keep his opponent at a distance, power up his own moves, and weaken the enemy. Warlock Quan Chi, meanwhile, is a tricky fighter, able to open portals through the NetherRealm to attack from unexpected directions and misdirect foes. Finally, Summoner Quan Chi can summon demons to assist him, giving him an extra degree of spatial control.
Quan Chi first appeared in the animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, before returning as a boss character in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and finally becoming playable in Mortal Kombat 4. He has appeared in most Mortal Kombat games since then, most recently as an unlockable fighter in 2011's Mortal Kombat.
Mortal Kombat X is the latest game in NetherRealm's ultra violent fighting game series, scheduled to release in April 2015.
