Watch the PlayStation Press Conference from Gamescom 2014

From 5 to 6.30 am this morning (NZST), Sony held their media briefing for Gamescom 2014, and the full video is now available to watch for those who weren't awake for it.

During the press conference, a number of new titles were announced:

  • Until Dawn, a horror game from Supermassive Games that was first revealed at Gamescom 2012.
  • WiLD, a PS4 exclusive from Rayman creator Michel Ancel.
  • The Tomorrow Children, an "eccentric" new PS4 game from PixelJunk developer Q-Games.
  • Alienation, a sci-fi shooter from Resogun developer Housemarque.
  • Tearaway Unfolded, an expanded PS4 port of Media Molecule's acclaimed PS Vita title, Tearaway.
  • Hellblade, a new action game from DmC and Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory.
  • Hollowpoint, a new title from Ruffian Games.

Additionally, new footage for a raft or previously announced games, like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Destiny, Far Cry 4, Bloodborne, and more.

Finally, Sony used the briefing to announce the 2.0 firmware for PlayStation 4, which will add direct uploads to YouTube and a feature called Share Play. Described as being like a "virtual couch," Share Play allows players to invite others to join their game, even people who don't own it, as well as letting another play take over the controls to assist with singleplayer games.

i sorta miss the go to the store and hire out a game and play whats on the disc and thats it , i feel technology is getting away on me :(

I think that's called age, and it's becoming increasingly obvious to me every day! I find myself quite often questioning things I thought I had anunderstanding of. Haha!

Looking forward to seeing how SharePlay plays out. Wonder if there will be much input lag? Im guessing so. Could be a killer.

It looks like a great bunch of titles, particularly Wild. Hmm i wonder how much fun it will be to play as a fish? hopefully more fun then Echo the dolphin! Shareplay could be amazing but i reckon the lag will be too great to overcome in NZ.
