The Last of Us: One Night Live Now on YouTube

Runtime: 1:31:40    Author: PlayStation    Category: Featurette

A one-off stage performance celebrating Naughty Dog's acclaimed game The Last of Us is now available on YouTube for all to see at their leisure.

The Last of Us: One Night Only included live readings of important scenes from the game with principal actors Troy Baker (Joel), Ashley Johnson (Ellie), and others, directed by game director Neil Druckmann, as well as live music. The show ended with a musical variation of the game's ending that fans might be familiar with from a video that Sony shared last year.

Tickets to the event were free and strictly limited, but it was also broadcast globally via Twitch, YouTube, and PlayStation Network this afternoon. Those in attendance reportedly got a special treat after the cameras stopped rolling, though, in the form of a deleted scene acted out.

The Last of Us: One Night Live is around an hour and a half long, and was performed to celebrate tomorrows release of The Last of Us Remastered.

Is this weirdly pretentious and self-congratulatory or is it just me?

From an outside perspective, I can see how it can be seen as such.

But as a fan, I really enjoyed it and think it's cool that they held this event to celebrate it's re-release for the PS4.

I'm pretty excited by it.

Oh I played and enjoyed the game. And Ive watched that making of. But this was a bit...OTT. 'Look how profound our game is!'

Just feels like they're trying for that 'its more than just a game!' buzz.

It sort of is in a sense. I mean, with one game it kind of became a lot more popular than ' Uncharted', which had 3 notches on its belt.

So maybe they just want to keep rolling with that?

Its a step in the right direction for games to be recognized as artful as films, so pretentiousness and self-worthiness has to come with it.

I think it says a lot in regards to how far games have come that they can be performed in such a way. As ironfist92 says "It's a step in the right direction". It's not unheard of for popular films to have a closed live pseudo script performance/reading.
I think the difference is we're used to those involved with films being "boastful" in their PR.
Games on the other hand have been traditionally a bit more demure as it's not until recent;y that we've truly become familiar with the actors/directors etc behind the scenes, they've kind of been hidden away.

I could see Nolan North and the Uncharted cast being really entertaining doing this... North is so naturally funny I think it would be a hoot....

This was pretty awesome. Though it sucks we can't see the ending for Joel and Ellie.

I think it's good because it shows they are 'real' actors..... I bet voice actors constantly get told they aren't real actors..

It's a bit like me being told (and I do) that as a poultry farmer, I'm not a real farmer..
