BioWare Wants Your Input for Mass Effect 4

Runtime: 2:09    Author: Mass Effect    Category: Trailers

BioWare want to know what players most like about the Mass Effect series and expect from Mass Effect 4, and have launched a short survey to obtain that feedback.

The survey is mainly focused on role-playing games, asking players to rate the importance of various aspects (story, combat, exploration, and customisation) on seven-point Likert scales. It also asks respondents to choose up to three favourite aspects of RPGs from a list that includes the likes of "levelling up," "customising appearance," and "comparing myself to friends," and asks about players' previous experience with the series and with RPGs in general.

Very little is known about Mass Effect 4 at this stage, other than the fact that it is currently in development and it will take place in a new location. A short teaser for the new game was shown at E3 this year, and can be seen above.

The problem is, the general populace has terrible ideas. I hope they don't jeopardise the quality of their games by giving people what they THINK they want...

The input they want isn't really based on story, it's more an indication on how people play RPGs and what is most important to them. Should help Bioware when focusing on what systems to enhance.

Personally I didn't like question 6, didn't feel like it was worded in a way that gets the best results seeing as single player based RPGs aren't released every week and therefore I know I'm not personally playing RPGs every week... there are just too many games these days, but when I get a new RPG, I tend to put 40+hrs into it over the first week or two depending on how good/addictive the story is :)

I agree with your point on question 6, the wording isn't right at all. Although I'm sure that they have a whole lot of data on how long it took people to play their previous games or at what points in the story people gave up.

Personally, I think that each of the Mass Effect games had their own strengths and weaknesses, but they were all pretty awesome.
