It's been a while since I've posted anything here, so I figured I'd take a stab at throwing up a new blog post. The last time I was active on NZgamer I was only playing on the PC and Xbox 360. Since then I've upgraded my PC rig and purchased a PlayStation 4.
I've been pretty busy, too. My work has meshed in with my favorite hobby, thus birthing the gaming product reviews site, Gamer Wares. I've been actively working on publishing detailed reviews of things like gaming chairs, third-party controllers for consoles, gaming headsets, and so on.
It's pretty much a side project for now, but I'm hoping to grow into something noteworthy.
On the gaming front, there's been a lot going on. With all of the new releases and betas coming out this year it's been hectic trying to find time to play everything I want on top of juggling my personal and professional life.
Even with new games like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands and Horizon New Dawn coming out, I've still found myself glued to titles such as Overwatch and SMITE. Coming from someone who is traditionally a FPS buff, these games are a bit out of the norm for me.
The latest FPS games just haven't been my cup of tea lately. Battlefield 1 is solid, but I grow bored of it relatively quickly. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is perhaps the worst CoD I've ever played in my life so that game gets absolutely no love from me. And while the Modern Warfare remaster has been fairly solid, I'm just finding myself less and less interested in playing Call of Duty games this year - not sure why, honestly.
Horizon Zero Dawn is probably the game I'm most excited for. It looks like an epic RPG and I'm really hoping it lives up to the hype. The graphics look fantastic, the gameplay looks smooth and interesting, the world looks lush and full of life - I honestly can't wait to get my hands on this game.
I've always loved RPGs. One of my favorite gaming series of all time is The Elder Scrolls. I was first introduced to it with Morrowind on the original Xbox and I fell in love with it. I've burned thousands of hours in Elder Scrolls titles like Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. I've played the MMO, too (Elder Scrolls Online), but that wasn't as awesome.
Anyway, I'm beginning to ramble a bit too much so I'll draw this to a close. I was just wanting to update my blog here since I haven't touched it in ages. Perhaps I'll try to make a point of making updates a more regular thing.
Hope all is well with the NZgamer crowd. Here's to a great year of gaming.
