So me and a mate on gtalk today were joking around about porn of all things and said "Why store it? the internet has everything" and he said: "What if the internet goes down?"

What if the internet goes down?...as in, you know can no longer use the internet for an extended period of time? Excuse me while I clean the excrement from my underwear...

When I thought about it initially the thought of no online games and no websurfing hit home...But I realised I had been taking advantage of things to a larger extent.

What about those RSS feeds on my desktop that feed me information?

What about all that info I take off wikipedia?

What about all of the online chatting I do from the moment I wake up till I sleep?

What about all that music I may or may not download (depending on whos reading this)?

Seriously...it dawned on me that if I lost the internet in my life, I would need to go back to using that giant set of encyclopaedias at my parents house (which are stupidly outdated)...I mean hell! I might even have to visit a library on occasion!

I would have to actually consult a dictionary to spell words correctly instead of banging them into Google.

I would have to actually read those newspapers that are piling up on my lawn currently (seriously Dominion post...I really dont want free newspapers...)

I would have to spend more time on the phone to talk to people just to chat (which I wont do cause I'm a bloke...)

I would have to read recipe books to learn how to make certain dishes.

I would not be able to view my favourite movies/anime online, nor would I have easy access to short flicks like on youtube.

I couldn't update my friends on plans instantly, nor could I just skype conference call them...

Anyway the list goes on...

I just wondered if I am the only one that suddenly realises how much I take the internet to advantage without realising how much it really has an impact on my life.

See I think at how much I might actually get done if I didnt have the internet...but I countermand myself when I realise how much I am able to because I do have the internet...

T_T Thank god I'm completely sober right now, if I tried to think about this while inebriated I would probably cry.

Ok I think I'm done now, perhaps others could shed some light on other reasons we take the internet for advantage...surely theres some older readers out there that predate the whole computer scene...
