
So I left my old job to work for myself. Awesome right?
...Only there's a problem. I'm lazy. And easily distracted. And lately haven't been very productive.
Working for myself + not working very much = poor Phil, so I've decided to keep tabs on how productive I feel within certain situations - so that I may hopefully increase my productivity, release more s**ty little puzzle games, and get enough money to buy my own island.
Here are my findings:
Day 1: "Explosivo" (Too much sleep and too much sugar)
12.06pm: After having 3 pieces of banana cake, 3 fun size chocolate bars, a banana (so I don't instantly explode from Diabetes) and a can of Lime Jolly for breakfast, I'm ready to code. Feeling surprisingly good... you know, considering.
12.22pm: Attention waned and I checked out NZGamer. Damn, that's a big ad.
Almost sneezed up cake. Strangely tasted good. Mmm, 'nana sneeze.
12.28pm: Actually haven't gotten back to work. *Now* I am though.
12.32pm: Can't concentrate. I think I need more sugar. Downing another Lime Jolly.
For those of you who don't know what Jolly is - it's sugar and colour. In liquid form. ...Delicious.
Feel good!
1.03pm: Doing well! Kinda surprised...
1.09pm: Still doing well - but it's only been 6 minutes. Feels like I've been working for a while. Go figure.
1.54pm: Feel kinda ill and have a hard time concentrating. Obviously this means only one thing. Haven't had enough sugar!
2.03pm: My eyes, head, and soul hurt. Bad.
Conclusion: Too much sleep and sugar do NOT help your productivity.
Day 2: "In the midnight Hour" (Late night coding)
12.16am: Girlfriend isn't staying over, all my msn distractions are asleep, had a nap that went overboard and infomercials on T.V. Maybe now would be a good time to be productive! I'm a little tired but without any distraction this could be good!
12.40am: Tired and bored. Checked out NZG forums, but since no one's awake spend little time there. *Sigh!*
12.47am: A little sleepy but still clear headed. Managed to write a nice wee function that should optimise my code a bit. Enough geek talk, back to it!
12.55am: Screw this, I'm sleepy. The code was good, but heck - I like sleep.
Conclusion: I'm a Nana. Not a Night Owl. Night coding IS productive, however unsustainable.
*2.35am: Still can't sleep. That's what happens when you have a 2 hour nap in the afternoon I guess...
*2.48am: Writes findings in blog format. Might try other means of increasing my productivity some other time too. Write that in blog form to increase my points. Muhuhuhahaha! ...Yeah.

Well, haven't found out the secret of productivity just yet. I'm sure it has to do with a good night sleep, bran and 5+ a day - but that's no fun.
I'm sure there's a trick to it though. Better keep experimenting... Any suggestions let me know, I might have to try it. You know, in the name of science and all.
3.18am: Damn, look at the time! Better stop blogging!
