My personal summary.
The Nintendo Wii sucked. Not because I hate the Wii (which I do), but because they clearly demonstrated that a person who developed the game specifically for the Wii, CANNOT even play the game. This was not due to his lack of skill however, but due to the failing mechanics of the Wii. Honestly I thought Zelda looked great until they started playing it. Turned me right off.
I Love the new look kirby and I am glad they brought it back, but using a Wii remote to play that game will not be a fun experience. The Mickey mouse game seems to beat the "looks good, but is bad", expectancy been a Disney game so good stuff.
The 3DS would have been ok I guess for people at the conference, who got to have a play. But considering millions of ppl watched E3 online like me, this was a let down. Makes it look like they didn't plan far enough ahead.
I still think it will just give people headaches... 3d is LAME and sooo sixties/seventies.
Microsoft disappointed me the most though. Call of duty:Black OPs was the biggest part of the "games" and well a) we've know that was coming, b) it's just another copy of a COD game, AGAIN c) it's not even exclusive (to steal the Sony guys word) to their console.
Kinect is a souped up Playstation eye toy, which was out back in the days of PS2 (remember those?) it never took off, and the games were mostly crap.
Sorry MS you rank LAST IMO.
Sony's conference was great, which surprised me, although the emphasis was more on on "we want your money and this is how we're getting it" rather than "we like games and so we make them".
LBP 2 looks Brilliant and I can't wait for this to arrive.
I counted the word "exclusive" close to 30 times and stopped counting.
This apeals to me as a gamer, as getting Collectors editions and free stuff with a game because I bought $ony, not Micro$oft, is a good way to keep me married to Sony. (ie not console whoring and sharing my bed with Microsoft AND Sony).
Can't wait to experience 3d kill zone, even though I've never really liked killzone. (more a BFBC fan). The Move is possibly the only good looking and sensibly designed addition to this whole new motion sensitive stuff. (Although I'll never buy one and will not get into this horrible new trend).
This is more of a motion controller, with buttons. Not a remote, that's also motion sensitive like the Wii remote and as a result, looks good, works well, and is kinda more of a gimmick. You dont HAVE to have one to use the console (unike the Wii). however the Harry-Potter-like, "Sorcery" actually looked quite good. (and its full HD =P not shaded vector art Wii crap).
The "coke guy" was AWESOME he spoke to me in my heart as a true gamer. He actually seemed to give a damn, and joking or not he sounds like he knows games. Unlike the woman earlier that came on stage who sounded forced and "well read" from teleprompters. I'm not sexist, I know a lot of girl gamers, but the "oriental" lady (I think she was at the xbox conference) was really struggling to speak let alone convince me to buy their product. (so memorable I cannot remember what it was = Sales FAIL).
The best conferences I have to say was possibly Sony 1st, EA games 2nd, Nintendo 3rd and disappointingly M$ last.
Surprised not to see an iPod console.. The iGamestation box 3d60 or somthing crappy with apple branding smeared on it's dirty cheeks.
Bring on the Googletron 5000. FTW! ^_^
Also why are so many people Nervous when standing in front of an audiance which they had a YEAR to prepare for. If you can't speak to crowds well, DON'T.
- Nuff said.
