MW3 Midnight Launch

MW3 Midnight Launch

So, by now, everyone knows the newest installment from the Call of Duty franchise has been released about 24 hours ago. As always, with this type of game, there was a midnight launch at my local Gamesman shop.

I always go to them but just grab the game and leave. This year I thought I might make an effort to dress up. I heard there was a prize up for grabs.

I text my friend and told him we're gonna have a go at a ghillie suit. For those that don't know, a suit/costume with leaves/foliage to blend in with the surroundings.

We spent $7.50 each on a trailer net cover and $1.50 each on some acrylic (whoops) paint.

Went to the backyard (don't tell the in-laws) and ripped out some ferns, branches and some other various leaves. Put the net on, stuck the leaves through. Borrowed a bike helmet, put some leaves in that and off we went.

Jumped in the car with the branches and all. Put on our CoD soundtrack and off we drove. Picked up some friends for a little split-screen action.

Got to Gamesman and the atmosphere was amazing! People were lively (especially the guy that wasn't there to buy the game but had a bottle of scrumpy) and grabbed our tickets.

The staff that dressed up were in another league but none the less they complimented our attempts.

The crowd grew as it got closer to midnight and eventually we were moved out onto the street for some spot prizes.

There was a prize for "Best game face" Scrumpy gave it a go but failed. Another bloke gave a good yell and took the prize home.

The last prize was for "Best dressed". The guy giving out the prizes said he could either give it to someone who takes it seriously or to someone taking the piss.

Taking the piss

Thanks Gamesman and NZGamer.com for the headset!

I'll be back again next time.
