Gameplay
Maybe one of the best "full on" action titles i've played. The battle system works with different attacks which you can use when you equip items called pins. Each pin have a different attack you can use in battle and each attack is activated in a different way. Some are activated by blowing into the mic, rapidly tapping the screen or slashing the enemy with your stylus. While all this is going on you also control the character on the top screen using buttons the dpad and A,B,X,Y buttons have the the same result and you can't alter their attacks. Each partner has different abilities and attacks but to attack simply all you have to do is rapidly tap the dpad in the direction you want to attack. In battle there is a attack booster being passed between the two players known as the light puck. When a player is in possession of this item there next few attacks may be doubled, tripled or quadrupled. AS you are passing the puck your sync rate goes up. When it reaches a certain point you can let off a super attack which has two levels of power which will obliterate the foe. HP is measured in a pretty unique way. The HP bar goes across both screens down the right hand side. when you get hit it decreases but you lose the battle when the two decreasing bars meet. same goes for boss fights! You may not get hit the entire battle but if your partner keeps taking damage and gets the bar right down to your end you lose. I think that's all i can say on the battle system. The food section is you can eat food to boost your stats but they take time to digest and get the full benefit from the item. There's also this fun little mini game called Tin pin which you use your pins as kinda like beyblades but cooler and with some cool attacks Wow that was long and that's just the battle system!
Story
This story has twist after twist after twist! The only points I'll give away are you play as Neku. A kind of emo kid who is withdrawn from everyone else. He enters a game not knowing why or even if he did enter or not. Apparently the game is a test to see if you're worthy at another chance of life cause apparently all the players in the game are dead and have to preform 7 missions to get points. The team with the highest points gets a second chance at life. Pretty in depth.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer battles would be to hard to perform in this game so you have the very addictive game Tin Pin! Which as i said above is just like beyblades except funner and having to propaganda slammed in your face. Pins have all sorts of abilities can affect how they battle. All the pins differ and you have to choose the right selection to ace battles. It's a pity that all the cpu players are complete noobs though but it's still fun!
Replay Value
A lot! You have the ability to go back and play each chapter of the game anytime once you've completed it. You also have the challenge to go back and clear all hidden missions of each day to get a secret report which tells you a little bit extra behind the story!
Conclusion
Maybe the best DS RPG ever! It's fun challenging and just awesome to play! If you have a ds you should definitely think about getting this game. But it's aimed more at the teen audience so there are swears in it. Be warned! Still it's fun and definitely worth the money!
