Ahh, pokemon one of the best RPGs out there! How can we exploit it this time? Turn it into a racing game? You bet!
Game play is what you'd expect from a racing game. There are a variety of cups with different courses to race on! Although instead of having a set path to go through there are check points all over the map which you have to cross in a set order (minus the final cup). This would be a great formula if it wasn't for two things that really bug me! The controls are frustrating and you only play as pikachu! The whole game you use your stylus! From main menu to racing. move your stylus in the direction you want pikachu to run in! This can get really annoying and isn't the best way to play a racing game! Imagine Mario Kart DS! Now replace the controls with stylus movements to race. Not a very good choice! The game could also use more characters to play as! The only character you can play as is Pikachu. Back to Mario Kart, imagine you only being able to play as Mario! Not very impressive.
Enough negativity, let's look at some of the game's cool stuff! Once you clear the first cup (if you haven't already turned off from boredom) you unlock the ability to make your own tracks based off your GBA game teams! If you have a team of Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza in your Emerald game while it's in the GBA slot it will create a cup based off the sprites of your team! Pretty impressive and fun to play around and see what you can do! The main menu has a little mini game where you can interact with pikachu. I suppose it's odd saying the main menu interaction is funner than the actual game itself but it pretty much is.
To be fair this isn't the worse racing game out there but it isn't one of the best either. If you can get past the awkward controls it is an all right game. If they make another Dash game where they fix the controls and add more characters it could be a great game! I suppose it was a test game to see how the Touch Screen interface would act and it's a good test game but in the end that's all it is. If you're a die-hard pokemon fan you may like this. If not give it a miss. Once again you're better off with Mario Kart!
