Because the first poke'mon ranger game was such a success Nintendo decided to make a sequel. Is it any good? Let's find out!
Nothing much has changed since the first game. The objective to catching a poke'mon is to keep looping it till you get sick! But this time Nintendo is being a bit nicer. You no longer have to do all 16 or whatever loops in one go. You can freely take off your stylus without losing any progress on the poke'mon. The new way to win is to get the new friendship gauge up to full. When this happens it's capture complete! Outside of battle you are able to capture certain pokemon for their field moves which are very handy! For example catching a doduo will allow you to ride it all around the place for easy travel! You are also now allowed to choose your own partner poke'mon from a list of them. When you get to a certain point in the game you are also able to charge your styler so you can deal double or triple power to make captures a lot more easy! All these new features makes this game a lot better than it's predecessor.
I don't usually pay attention to stories in games often but this one is pretty straight forward. A new team has risen called Team Dim Sun who's goal is to...you guessed it. Take over the world (M.Bison: Of course!)! So they cause havoc around the world while you go out there and screw up their schemes. Easy as pie! It has plenty of turns and twists along the way and is pretty fun to watch. It's also amusing to watch the reactions of the baddies when you beat the living snot out of them.
Eventually every game on the DS is going to have Wi-Fi. But it would be way to difficult to make this game into multi player. Wi-Fi in this game is used for downloading special missions which some you can get poke'mon to transfer to diamond and pearl. This is a pretty handy feature to have which does make it useful.
Even after you complete the main story of this game it still has a lot more to offer. The capture Arena makes it reappearance which can occupy a person for a fer hours. There are many optional quests where you can get rewards from. These are fun yet sometimes too easy to complete such as reading a recipe on the fridge, seriously that was a quest. There are the downloadble Extra missions from Wi-Fi and the goal to fill the entire browser will keep you busy for quite some time.
Overall it's a pretty good game. I found myself playing into 4 AM just to complete it! Ton's of features which I can't fit into this review. If you loved the first poke'mon ranger game you should definitely consider getting this sequel. If you're new to the series, give it a try cause it's worth the money! Lots of fun and plenty jam packed into it!
