Pull on your trench coat, and pick up your Tommy gun, because The Godfather is heading our way. Step into the shoes of an ambitious young mobster, and experience the action as you rise through the ranks of the Corleone family to become the next Don. Bank heists, extortion and drive by shootings will all become part of your New York days work as you strive to earn or take the respect you need.
Adapted from Mario Puzo’s novels, The Godfather films tell the story of generations of power with the Corleone family. The Godfather: The Game game lets you play out some of the best moments from the film, while still paving your own violent path to the top. With Electronic Arts having acquired the rights to Marlon Brandos voice and likeness, as well as use of the famous Godfather theme, you can be assured that this game will immerse you in the violent Mob-run world like no other.
Set in 1945 crime riddled New York, you will have to use all your wits to stay ahead, as five other ruthless families from the fiction, the Tattaglia, Cuneo, Sollozzo, Brazini, and Stracci families, battle to take control over the streets. You are sent on a variety of open ended missions throughout the game, some directly from the film, with others being original to the game. Your character has the ability to interact freely with other characters in the city. Depending on your situation and how you choose to play the game, using intimidation and violence or respectful or negotiating means, the characters in the world will remember your interactions with them which in turn will affect the entire outcome of the game.
"We are incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to bring the fiction of The Godfather to life in a videogame," said David DeMartini, EA's Executive Producer of the game. "The Godfather movies raised the standard for cinematic achievement with their high level of drama and intense story telling and in fall 2005 gamers will be able to experience that dangerous and living world of The Godfather for themselves."
"We are thrilled to partner with Electronic Arts to bring this exceptional content into the interactive world," said Sandi Isaacs, Vice President of Interactive from Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products. "The Godfather is a crown jewel of Paramount Pictures. We are confident this game will deliver the depth of the experience expected by The Godfather movie fans around the world."
Featuring the voice talents of Marlon Brando, James Caan and Robert Duvall, and with enough bad ass Mafiosa attitude to boot, be ready to extort, bribe, threaten and negotiate to get your hands on a copy. The Godfather: The Game will be available for Xbox, Playstation 2 and PC and is due out in stores early 2006.
