Don't miss out on these blogs!
Welcome to the fourteenth instalment of our Best of the Blogs feature where we play catch-up on the best of the previous fortnight's blogs. The past two weeks have seen a ton of blogs ranging from the serious to the hilarious, be sure to check the top five out below and keep those blogs coming!
Blog #5: Remakes by Xyttik
Kicking off the top five we have Xyttik with a blog on remakes both good and... well, not so good. Xyttik starts the blog by going over some of the remakes we’ve seen in recent years such as titles from the Final Fantasy series, a remade Space Invaders (now with more techno!) and some Wii-makes. Xyttik also makes a point of saying remakes aren’t necessarily a bad thing but that they need time and effort put into them if they are to live up to (or surpass) the original titles.
Check out some of the comments below.
” I'd love to see a remake of Might and Magic 8. It's my favourite of the series and I play it through at least twice a year. It's a shame to see what's happened to the series after that though...” from BobGodson.
” I'm actually all for the remakes. I really liked FFII's gameplay even if some other people didn't but with the awesome cutscenes you can tell what the characters look like.” from Srassy.
Blog #4: Sega CD Attachment Review by Srassy
In at fourth is Srassy with another review of a gaming system, or in this case, peripheral from years gone by. Under Srassys’ microscope this time is the Sega CD, which was Sega’s pricy solution to the problem of games requiring more storage capacity than the current cartridges had to offer.
In what seems to have become his niche, Srassy has put up another well-written and in-depth review covering a piece of gaming history. If you didn’t pick up a Sega CD (judging by the price, I’m assuming most of you didn’t) you should give this a read.

”You're the only blogger whom I can think of that has consistently good blogs, even if they stick to the same theme. Keep it up.” from BlackRetina
”Nice blog. I never got any of the attachments, but I'll always treasure our Master System and Mega Drive.” from Phoenix.
Blog #3: Stories From A Fabled Gamer by Wozza
Third today is Wozza with a blog on Fable 2 and the impact it’s had on his home (and work!) life. Wozza starts the blog off by listing a few examples of Fable affecting his real life such as trading real chores for virtual ones by offering to wash dishes over chopping trees down in-game.
While Wozza isn’t in nearly as deep as some people when it comes to being absorbed in a game and nor does Fable require the amount of work-like commitment that other titles do (I’m looking at you, World of Warcraft), it’s certainly an interesting idea that virtual tasks can equal or surpass real-world ones in terms of importance.

”sign of a fun game when you ask your flatmates to play it for you in exchange for you doing chores lol. but working behind the bar - i couldnt help but wonder how many beers are really needed? or how much is in that one barrel?!” from stupidlikeafox.
”Sounds like Harvest Moon to me!
Every day once I had tended all my crops and animals, and chatted up the townsfolk, I went and fished until it was 5:00PM, and then chopped wood until I was out of energy or I had to go to sleep.
Unless It was winter, then I mined all day.” from Koopa18.
Blog #2: NXE Analysis by Genocide
Genocide is in at second today with his analysis of Microsoft’s recently released NXE (New Xbox Experience). In this blog Genocide breaks the NXE down into five sections, evaluates them and manages to sneak humour into the process. Covering the Avatar, GUI, Installation, Marketplace and Party features, Genocide provides his take on Microsoft’s latest update to the Xbox360’s functionality.
Have a look at some of the comments below.
”Nice Blog, you've explained everything well, it gives a fairly clear understanding of what the New Xbox Experience is like, and a good use of humour!!” from JojoTheRain.
”Yeah the NXE is pretty good. Didn't live up to the expectations that Microsoft were spouting about how it would reinvent the wheel, but is still far better than the old system.” from paddy01.
