The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection comprises three complete titles, rendered in HD, and crammed into one package for your gaming pleasure. To those not yet familiar with the definitive stealth-action franchise, the spin-offs, sequels, prequels, platforms, timeline, and cast of characters can seem pretty daunting; however this tricked out trio should provide an excellent starting point for the uninitiated, and give the fans something to look forward to.
Two of the titles (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) were wildly successful on the PS2, so their inclusion is no surprise. The third title, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was released for PSP to much fanfare and critical acclaim, yet somehow this didn’t translate to good sales figures. We’re not sure why; it was a damn fine game. Peace Walker has since undergone the full HD treatment, and you’ll soon be able to experience the revamped version on PS3 as part of this collection.
Set in South America in the mid 1970s, MGS: Peace Walker is one of the aforementioned prequels, and a direct sequel to MGS3: Snake Eater. In addition to boasting one of the best plots in the series and an overhauled control system, the game features online multiplayer and co-op modes to extend replay value… plus trophies to boot. As well as the visual enhancements, the game will feature remastered sound, so expect a feast for the eyes and ears… but don’t take our word for it; check out the comparison screens for yourself.

With its visual makeover and accompanying improvements, the 3-for-1 deal should please fans and newcomers alike - and all in time for Christmas. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is currently scheduled for a February release (censor’s rating pending), so keep an eye out for our full review!
