Get ready to rip your shirt off, bust out of those shoes and hope desperately that your trousers hold. Yes, it's the latest entrant on the well-worn trail of comic to movie to video game - The Incredible Hulk. The film, due for release in June, is a departure from the psychological angst that weighed down 2003's cinematic Hulk, and a return to the action/chase format of the old television series. Of course the 2008 version is polished up with a modern day attitude and plenty of stunning effects-laden set pieces.

In the game you take the part of Bruce Banner in a story that incorporates, and adds to, the events of the film. All the big names reprise their roles including Edward Norton and Liv Tyler in the lead roles of Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.

However, as you would expect, there are plenty of plot elements added to the game, as well as a wide range of super villains. The extra villains, not seen in the film, have been culled from the comics and added to the mix to give the Hulk some serious super-competition. This means that you won’t only fight soldiers, government agencies and Tim Roth’s Abomination, you also battle Bi-Beast and the team of the U-foes.

The aim of The Incredible Hulk is to make a living world that's interactive and familiar. In the game you will be able to rip up great chunks of pavement, tear down lampposts and toss cars around like – well, like the Hulk tosses cars around. There will be driving mini-games and plenty of side missions to enjoy. Taking its cue from a certain recently released game, you will be able to forget the missions and explore the city to your big green heart's content, only in The Incredible Hulk, exploring the city will mean smashing it to rubble.

With the multi-platform game set for release in June, developer Edge of Reality looks to bring all the thrills of the new film to life. And although there are still duds in the world of movie to game tie-ins, there have also been a number of titles that have been both polished and fun. In a few weeks time we will find out if Sega’s The Incredible Hulk has what it take to entertain us, or if it just makes us angry. And they wouldn’t like us when were angry.
