It's hard to think that Splinter Cell was once exclusive to the Xbox brand. The series now appears on every machine under the sun, including the handhelds. Unlike Solid Snake, Sam Fisher is the one espionage expert that everyone can play as. The latest game in the series, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, has already been released on most platforms to critical acclaim. Now that the PLAYSTATION 3 has finally decided to bless us with its presence, Splinter Cell: Double Agent can now emerge from the shadows and make an appearance on Sony's new console.
So what is there to say about Splinter Cell: Double Agent that hasn't already been said? Not a lot, unfortunately. Unlike the recent Wii version, this is a straight port of the Xbox 360 version. There is no fancy use of the Sixaxis controller or any other new features that would be exclusive to the PS3. Indeed, it appears as if the PS3 version is actually missing some of the graphical touches that made the Xbox 360 game such a stunner.
However, with console prices now being at ridiculous all-time highs, it's not unfathomable that a large majority of players are now choosing to be single-console gamers. If you're one of those gamers who decided to side with the PLAYSTATION 3, and if you're a fan of Sam Fisher's exploits and haven't already played Double Agent on another console, then Splinter Cell: Double Agent is going to be a welcome addition to your PS3 library. Stay tuned to NZGamer for a full review in the near future to find out how it stacks up against the other versions.
