AT A GLANCE

The Good: The PLAYSTATION 3 game should be the most realistic yet. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a SIXAXIS."
The Bad: Will this deliver that much more than existing versions?
The Ugly: Who ever said boxing was a ‘pretty’ sport?

I don’t know about you guys, but when fighting people, I like to be able to see sweat running down their bodies, swelling around their eyes, and the bulging of their neck veins. Luckily for us then, Fight Night Round 3 on the PLAYSTATION 3 will of course be featuring a graphical update promising us the most realistic looking boxing game yet. If you love looking at muscle tones, then this is THE game for you.

Because the PLAYSTATION 3 version of the game is of course a little late to the party, other aspects besides the graphics will be updated, including a PS3-exclusive first person mode that will let you see the action from your boxer’s point of view as soon as you enter the ring. This perspective will be complete with blurred vision, ear ringing and flashes of light, giving you a much more realistic representation of boxing than ever before.

Another bonus for PS3 owners is ESPN integration, which will update you with the latest scores and gamers download video content and more.

You’ll have to stay on your toes when playing Fight Night, as to capture the excitement and spontaneity of the sport, EA have included ‘impact punches’ that can turn the tables of a fight in an instant. And you’ll also have to do more than just button mash, as not fighting smartly will fatigue your player, while learning when to use each punch is a definite advantage.

The PLAYSTATION 3 version of the game will of course feature online play as well as exclusive split-screen fights. After all, why would you buy a boxing game if you’re not looking at taking on your mates?
