AT A GLANCE

The Good: A creepy next-gen FPS. "A gruesome twist for the FPS genre. "
The Bad: Not at all suitable for the kids!
The Ugly: Cannibalising corpses of your victims – yum!

On the day of his 21st birthday, mafia hitman Jackie Estacado gets a present unlike any he’s ever had before – the horrifying and incredible power of the Darkness is awakened within him.

Based on the comic book of the same name, The Darkness lets players take the role of Jackie Estacado as he struggles to take command of his terrifying new abilities, while simultaneously trying to take back control of the Franchetti crime family.

Developed by the team behind the award winning The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, The Darkness puts a creepy twist on the familiar FPS genre. No longer will you run from the horror lurking in the shadows – you are the horror lurking in the shadows! Varying manifestations of the Darkness allow you to devour, impale or implode your enemies, while the absence of light feeds and replenishes the Darkness.

"The Darkness video game is a dynamic first person shooter that allows players to call upon the forces of the evil underworld as they fight in gritty, urban environments," said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "Armed with an arsenal of guns, gamers will battle an array of demonic creatures and supernatural powers. The dark and dynamic comic book storyline will translate perfectly into first-person action that fans will love."

The Darkness will be available for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and is expected to be available in New Zealand during late April.
