We head to the Sony Playstation Party!
NZGamer.com was invited to Sony’s yearly party at Nineteen 42 bar, 42 Below’s bar located on Customs Street, Auckland. Sony put on back to back parties on Tuesday and Wednesday night, with Tuesday night dedicated to retail and gaming media, while Wednesday night was a celebs and industry night. At the thought of mingling with celebs and having a chin wag with industry folk we raised our hand to head to the Wednesday evening!
But enough about the schmoozing with famous folk - on with the games!

God of War III
Hidden to side of the bar was the diamond in the rough, none other than God of War III. Kratos is back and has come to severely kick ass and take no names. With the overall aim to kick that ass in the most gruesome, gore-filled way imaginable. After the PS2’s release of God of War II, the series makes it first appearance on Sony’s PS3. For those unfamiliar with the God of War franchise, the titles are set in the hack ‘n slash/action-adventure genre, and you are Kratos, where you find yourself in the world of Greek methodology. Kratos’ sole aim is to cause as much harm to the Gods.
The game looks incredible, but those with a weak stomach be a little wary! Check out the full hands on for all you GoW fans.

Tekken 6
It’s Tekken, you know what you’re in for – an arcade-ported button-mashing fighter, guys with muscles on muscles and gals with over proportioned breasts. The arcade version of Tekken 6 was released way back in 2007, and now the port is making its way to the PS3, Xbox 360 and hitting the PSP later in the year. The highlight of the evening was watching reality tv star/model Aja Rock hand a beating to M2 magazine’s Gaming Editor Michael Toon. Be sure to check out the video of Aja (Alisa) laying a beating to Michael (Bob). Though to be fair, Michael did prove himself in the final couple of games.
Tekken 6 is due out in late October; be sure to check out the NZGamer.com review of Tekken 6 when it drops.

EyePet
EyePet shows that in amongst the manly games like God of War III, Uncharted 2 and Tekken 6, Sony can still do cute. The game utilises the Playstation Eye technology and you find yourself interacting with a virtual pet. During the night we spotted the pet being patted, chasing a toy and even drinking an ice cold Heineken! Basically the pet is aware of its environment, including any objects introduced, and knows how to interact with them. It might be a good game to pick for those gamers looking to keep the lady in their lives happy.
Check out EyePet in late October and keep it locked NZGamer.com for our review!

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Nathan Drake is back in his second outing on the PS3 and has come back better than ever. The game has released to worldwide critical acclaim with most reviews clocking in at 95% or higher. Uncharted 2 was easily the most popular game of the night, with the masses hording round the couches to get a bit of Nate and his pals adventures to retrieve the Cintanami stone.
If you been under a rock, or haven’t checked out the NZGamer.com Uncharted 2: Among Thieves review, be sure to head there now.
Hands down the best reason to buy a PS3!

That wraps up all the games we had a chance to play. A big 'ole thanks to everyone we chatted with and the delicious cocktails provided by the 42 Below staff.
Special thanks to Sony NZ for the invite!

And please don't tell me Aja Rock was the most pronounced celeb there.
