It’s pretty criminal that games have only been gifted a handful of video games based on The Transformers license – but at least that number is now going up by one. Transformers: The Game is the official movie tie-in to the Michael Bay Winter blockbuster, and it looks to be shaping up nicely.
The game will follow the events of the movie, but because little at this stage is known outside of “big, evil robots attack Earth and big, good robots fight them and protect us” it’s difficult to talk about what, specifically, players will be doing.
What is known is that the Traveller’s Tales-developed game will see you taking control of both Autobots and Decepticons in a variety of levels based on the movie. The game will feature third-person action, driving, and flying – as well as causing general destruction with giant robots. Awesome!
In terms of destruction, it is promised that everything in the game will be fully destructible. This means that players will be able to smash anything they see, and such a feature will ultimately provide oodles of replay value. The fact that the game has a star-based wanted level insinuates that sandbox gameplay might even be on the cards.
Ultimately, Transformers: The Game looks set to cram a lot into a single package. However, with great graphics and animation, with plenty of freedom and scope, with tight controls and varied gameplay, and with one of the best licenses on the planet, Transformers: The Game could be one of the biggest hits of Winter. Keep it locked to NZGamer for a full review in the near future.
