Armchair sportsfans – it’s time to trade the remote control for the buzzer, because Buzz Sports is on its way, bringing with it an immense library of 5,500 questions (more than either of the previous Buzz games). But Buzz isn’t just testing the depth of your knowledge – the game will feature questions on over 50 different sports, from the obvious choices like Football, Tennis, etc, to the odd and obscure, like Camel Racing.
As well as the change of content, the structure of the game will be somewhat different to the previous Buzz titles, with some of the old rounds being removed and new ones added. Fastest Finger and Points Stealer still remain, as well as the Catch round, identical to Pass the Bomb – but they are also joined by Estimation, Finish Line, Risk, Spin, and World of Sport. The Spin round is styled after Wheel of Fortune; World of Sport has players race around the world answering regionally-oriented questions; and Finish Line, unsurprisingly, is a race to the end, where correct answers move you forward and wrong ones move you back.
Buzz Sports will also feature 16 character options – a mixture of new sports-themed characters, and old favourites, restyled appropriately. Like The Big Quiz, it will support up to 8 players (as long as you have two sets of buzzers), but it isn’t clear whether the 8 player modes will be more substantial than in its predecessor.
Sports is set for release in NZ on the 24th of November – about the right time so that Rugby fans will have something to do during the Cricket season…
As always, keep an eye on NZGamer – up with the play where games are concerned.
