Tribute Games, the team behind Scott Pilgrim and Wizorb (which we recently raved about), have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their next game.
Called Mercenary Kings, the title is an ambitious mix of action, platforming, and RPG crafting mechanics, resulting in a blend of genres which appears to be brand new.
The Kickstarter campaign aims to generate the US$75,000 the team at Tribute need to finish the basic version of the game, and will go towards paying bills and salaries while the title is developed. They've also set several stretch goals, which will result in more content for the title as more money is raised through the Kickstarter crowd funding mechanism.
Regardless of the amount of money raised, however, the team plan to continue working on the game - even after release - until it fully realizes their ambition.
At this stage, only a PC version is in production, however Tribute state that they're keen to add support for more platforms in the future, should resources allow for that. The design includes a local 4-player co-operative mode and, should they raise enough money, they're keen to enable online multiplayer as well.
