Codemasters have announced a new addition to their regular F1 series of games, in the form of a relaxed-reality racer called F1 Race Stars. It's in development at the same studio as the main F1 games - Codemasters Racing Studios in Birmingham - and is being created under an exclusive deal with Formula One World Championship Limited.
As can be expected from a game of this nature, F1 Race Stars sports power-ups, 4-player split-screen racing, as well as competitive modes for up to 12 players and an "extensive" career mode, which features a "number" of championships. The game includes a number of exaggerated real-world F1 locations, including Monaco, Silverstone, and the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Chris Gray, Senior Producer, F1 RACE STARS, said: “It’s the game we’ve wanted to create for a long time and, building on our strong relationship with Formula One Management Limited, we’re now able to bring Codemasters’ long-standing expertise in track design and AI to create a FORMULA ONE racing experience quite unlike any other.”
If you're keen to go for a few laps in the new racer, you'll get your chance (assuming you have an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PC) this holiday season.
