AT A GLANCE

The Good: A lovingly crafted sequel which shouldn’t disappoint. "An epic tale of shattered alliances, noble acts and dark deeds. "
The Bad: Steer clear if RPGs aren’t your style.
The Ugly: Only for the PC? Not cool.

Obsidian Entertainment has picked up where Bioware left off, and is set to deliver more adventure with the highly anticipated follow-up to Neverwinter Nights.

Years after the devastating war between Luskan and Neverwinter, the wounds of war have finally started to heal. The time of peace may be over however, as tension building between the might city-states means the Sword Coast is again hovering on the brink of open war. Unnoticed, an even greater danger stalks the City of Skilled Hands. Unbeknownst to the inhabitants of the North, deep in the Mere of Dead Men, dark forces from across the Realms have been united under the banner of a legendary evil. If left unchallenged, all of the North is doomed to fall under its power.

Even in this darkest hour, hope remains. A mysterious relic is borne to Neverwinter in the hands of a lone hero so that its secrets may be unlocked - secrets that carry the fate of all the North. Bards sing tales of heroes from ages past, but never have the Forgotten Realms so desperately needed a champion.

Originally developed by BioWare, Neverwinter Nights set a new standard in the role-playing genre with a deep and engrossing storyline; immersive character development; stunning graphics; and, an expansive multiplayer experience like none other.

"Neverwinter Nights is one of the most beloved RPG's of all time and we're pleased that Obsidian has taken on the challenge," said John Hight, executive producer, Atari. "Feargus and his team at Obsidian Entertainment are the best people on the planet to take up where BioWare left off and bring this great game to new levels. They are intimately familiar with what makes Neverwinter Nights special, they know what it takes to make a great game and they have the respect of the RPG community."

In Neverwinter Nights 2, you’ll be able to enjoy new spells, feats and prestige classes with cutting edge graphics and an overland map. You’ll also be able to use the completely rewritten, powerful Obsidian Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset to create your own adventures, share them with friends, or run them through your adventure directly as the Dungeon Master.

Neverwinter Nights 2 will be available for PC and is expected to hit NZ stores early September. Keep it locked onto NZGamer.com for the latest news and reviews.
