It looks like Sony’s long-term deal with Destiny is still in effect, and not just limited to extra strikes in paid expansions or DLC packs. The sci-fi shooter will be giving PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 owners some exclusive content as part of the free April update.
PlayStation owners will get an exclusive set of quests on the Reef, involving quest-giver Petra. Sony also showcased a new exotic sniper rifle that Guardians can expect to pick up during the April update.
Named Zen Meteor, the weapon looks to be similar in design to the ever-popular rocket launcher Gjallahorn. Whenever you fire the rifle, you’ll shoot some explosive shells that will deal extra solar damage to your foes, as they get burnt up.
The PlayStation-exclusive content is usually a timed-exclusive – with Xbox players getting access to Sony’s previous strikes, maps, and guns at a later date. It’s very likely that the same is true here.
This new content will arrive the day of the update, which is set for April 12/13.
