New Resident Evil CGI Movie Announced

In an announcement on their website, animation studio Marza Animation Planet (better known for titles like Harlock: Space Pirate) is working on a new Resident Evil CGI film.

This one, titled Resident Evil: Vendetta, looks set to follow elite agent Leon S. Kennedy. Directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Bushido Man, Hard Revenge, and Milly: Bloody Battle) and written by Japanese novelist and script-writer Makoto Fukami (better known for his work on Psycho-Pass), the film is slated for a 2017 release.

The film was, oddly enough, revealed at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. As evident by the art shown, a motorcycle figures prominently – a Ducati XDiavel specifically. While tie-ins like this aren’t uncommon it seems strange to have Leon riding a bike, given that his partner Claire from Resident Evil 2, was poised as a biker herself.

This will be the third Resident Evil CGI film, following on from Resident Evil: Degeneration in 2008, and Resident Evil: Damnation in 2012.

I didn't mind the RE CG films that much seeing as they are set in the games universe and were not to bad. Nothing special but alright. Will probably give this one a look as well.
