The Witcher developer CD Project Red has outlined its strategy for the next six years, which includes, among other things, a "new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio" and another AAA role-playing game, over and above Cyberpunk 2077.
There's little information about either project, beyond a 2016 window for the new-format game and a planned release of the new RPG some time between 2017 and 2021. CD Projekt Red have worked with PC and consoles for some time, and they've also developed a couple of mobile games, so it's anyone's guess what this "new type of video game format" will be.
CD Projekt Red's other plans for this year include the release of The Witcher 3's second expansion pack, Blood and Wine, and the "implementation of new promotional and marketing activities supporting continued sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." The 2017 - 2021 period will see the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, the "expansion of our core franchises with additional media content and product lines", and an expansion of the studio two four individual teams, "two of which will be tasked with development of games representing new segments."
We'll likely find out more about CD Projekt Red's plans in the coming months.
